PROJECT
This will be a new riverside social destination, a place that showcases high-culture and sub-culture together to create an immersive world of delight.
We are winners of the Mayor of London and Newham’s Meanwhile Competition
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, announcing the winners of Meanwhile London at MIPIM, March 8th 2011.
Our Aim
This is a two stage project to kick start the regeneration of The Royal Docks. The first stage involves bringing East London Culture to The Olympic Last Mile, the second stage aims to support the cultural legacy of the games through the provision of a multi-functional cultural destination.
We will transform Pontoon Dock from its current state of dereliction into a cultural hub for Londoners seeking a vibrant and exciting cultural experience that is both avant-garde and inclusive.
During the Olympics, we will be proud to say, this is our London – an innovative and creative world, acclaimed for its cultural influence, yet previously without a defined hub.
The Pleasure Gardens will provide London with a 60,000 sq.m waterside leisure park featuring both year-round attractions and seasonal spectaculars.
Elements include:
- A Concert Stage
- A Floating Restaurant & Cocktail Bar
- Landscaped Walkways and Wild Gardens
- Artisan cafes and bars
- A Dome Venue
- A Guerrilla Art-Hotel
- Riverside Terrace
- Water-attractions including floating cinema
- Open-air summer shows

Location
Pontoon Dock, is located in The Royal Docks, Newham, East London. Across the water from The ExCel Center, it is part of the official Olympic Last Mile.
Our neighbouring DLR station, Pontoon Dock, is situated only 15minutes from Bank. The site is well connected by road, rail, bus, the river and even City Airport next door.
Our Audience
Our audience is both local and global. Some will come to enjoy the gardens, some for a meal or an evening stroll along the water whilst others might enjoy a weekend at our Hotel and the chance to see renowned artists and performers bring the Pleasure Gardens to life.
Families are very welcome and we aim to make the Pleasure Gardens somewhere the whole family can enjoy for the day.
The Local Community

The community around us are at the heart of our developing plans and inspiring young people is a key part of our ethos. They are a key part of our ongoing discussions and we look forward to facilitating community projects and working with young people in the area.
